Before you answer here is the catch; I have the location and the date but I do not have the time of day. Is there a way to figure out the ascendant sign without the exact time of birth or am I pretty much out of luck?
Please include any references you can that might be useful.

and besides the technical reason for the Sun movement..how is Ascendant and Descendant tied to ideas of past lives and karma etc?
please explain idea behind this and how old?
